The Impact of Connexus Cares in 2019

As a credit union, it’s our responsibility to help our communities. Historically, Connexus has always been a large supporter of local United Way and Relay For Life chapters.

However, in 2019, we took our philanthropy to the next level.
With so many people in need of food, shelter, and care, we committed to supporting the organizations that keep our communities healthy and thriving.
That’s where Connexus Cares comes in.

Connexus Cares Impact in 2019

Since launching, Connexus Cares has made several significant contributions to various local organizations.

$1,000,159 Total Donated and Committed as of December 31, 2019

That number highlights our commitment to helping those in need. But where did all that money go?

Food Pantries ($252,978)
Many of the food pantries and programs rely heavily on donations. We supported both wide-ranging pantries and smaller programs that provide nutritious meals to young students on the weekends.

We are incredibly proud to partner with Connexus in the fight against hunger! Through their support, we are able to assist 49 organizations fighting hunger and empower our youth to Make the World a Better Place!

Local Shelters ($267,233)
Whether it’s shelter for those who are homeless, abused, or other, we aim to help the organizations that offer the care our community members need.

Because of Connexus, we are able to provide safe housing, basic necessities, and critical supportive care to almost 450 women and children every year. Thank you!

National Charities/Sponsorships ($479,948)
There are hundreds of national charities, but we focused our efforts on those that could help at a local level. For example, we made large donations to organizations, like United Way, Salvation Army, and Toys for Tots.
One of our most impactful campaigns was matching all Salvation Army red kettle donations in our hometown from Black Friday through Giving Tuesday. Thanks to the generous support of our community, we donated $25,000.

Monetary donations are vital because it allows us to provide programs and services for residents all year round. We are able to provide emergency assistance, shelter, and Christmas assistance.

Donating More Than Money

While we know monetary donations are helpful for the organizations we support, we knew there was more we could do.
That’s why we offered each employee 16 hours of paid Volunteer Time Off. Our employees volunteered thousands of hours to local organizations in 2019.

Relay For Life has been a main focus of ours, as we have been the sole presenting sponsor of our hometown Relay for 13 consecutive years.
In 2019, though, we set a new standard. We aimed high, setting a fundraising goal of $70,000. We’re proud to say we easily surpassed that goal by donating more than $83,000 to benefit the American Cancer Society.

We raised that money by hosting a number of events, including employee potlucks, employee casual days, a golf outing with our business partners, and much more.

Expectations for 2020

It comes as no surprise that our goal for 2020 is to do even more. We hope to donate more money, volunteer more time, and make an ever larger impact.

Why?

Because Connexus Cares.
