Yes, you must open the account with a minimum of $1,000. There is no penalty or fee for your balance falling beneath $1,000 after opening, but you must maintain a minimum daily balance of $1,000 to earn the disclosed Annual Percentage Yield (APY).
If the active checking2 requirements are not met, the following yields will apply:
- Balances of $100,000 and over earn 0.50% APY1
- Balances of $50,000 to $99,999.99 earn 0.40% APY1
- Balances of $20,000 to $49,999.99 earn 0.35% APY1
- Balances of $10,000 to $19,999.99 earn 0.25% APY1
- Balances of $1,000 to $9,999.99 earn 0.15% APY1
- Balances of $0 to $999.99 earn 0.00% APY1
