Title & Lien Release FAQ

The processing and management of titles and lien releases can be confusing because they vary by lender, state, and loan status. That’s why we compiled the Frequently Asked Questions below – so that no matter where you live, or whether your loan is active or paid off, you can find the information you need about your vehicle’s title or lien release.

I recently paid off my loan. When will I receive my title and lien release?2022-02-14T08:12:18-06:00

The timeline in which you’ll receive your title and lien release after loan pay-off varies by state as follows:

For states issuing paper titles and lien releases:
Titles and lien releases have a standard processing time of 8 days after loan pay-off. Once processed, your title and lien release will be mailed to the address that appears on your monthly billing statement unless instructed otherwise. To avoid delays in receiving your title, please verify the mailing address on file is current. Standard mail delivery times apply.

For states issuing electronic (paperless) titles:
Connexus will notify the state of your lien release within 8 days of receiving your final payment. Your state’s DMV will then mail you a lien-free title according to its own timeframe. For specific details on your state’s title processing and mailing timeline, contract your state’s DMV.
