In a digital world where fraud and identity theft are all too common, protecting your data is our top priority. That’s why we designed Debit Card Management — to provide you with a variety of customizable security options to keep your card safe.

When you access Debit Card Management within Digital Banking or the Connexus App, you can make your card safer in minutes by:

  • Customizing transaction alerts
  • Freezing your card due to theft, loss, or fraud
  • Enabling travel notices to prevent potential interruptions while traveling
  • Updating your PIN as needed

How to activate a new debit card

Once you receive your new debit card in the mail, follow these steps to activate it before use:

Step 1

Log in to Digital Banking. Under the My Accounts menu, click “Manage Debit Card.”

Step 2

On mobile, swipe right or left to locate your debit card; on desktop, hover your mouse over the image of your card. Then click the green “Set up card” button.

Step 3

Follow the on-screen instructions to Register Your Card Activity Alerts.

Step 4

Enter the three-digit security code found on the back of the card and click or tap “Activate.”

Step 5

Keep your card secure by creating a four-digit pin.

Step 6

To prevent unauthorized transactions, select an Authorization Alert level and tap or click “Save Preferences.”

How to set up debit card transaction alerts

To receive real-time alerts about transactions on your debit card, follow these steps:

Step 1

Log in to Digital Banking. Under the My Accounts menu, click “Manage Debit Card.”

Step 2

On mobile, swipe right or left to locate your debit card; on desktop, hover your mouse over the image of your card. Then click the green “Set up card” button.

Step 3

Select an Alert Delivery Method. Confirm that your mobile number (for text delivery), device type (for push notifications), or email address (for email delivery) is listed correctly.

Step 4

If you’d like to be notified of transactions over a certain amount as well as transactions that were declined on your debit card, select an Authorization Amount. If not, opt out of these alerts.

Your transaction alerts will be activated immediately, so you can expect to start seeing alerts in real-time.

How to freeze a debit card

To “freeze” your debit card in order to decline transactions due to loss, theft, or fraud, follow these steps:

Step 1

Log in to Digital Banking. Under the My Accounts menu, click “Manage Debit Card.”

Step 2

On mobile, swipe right or left to locate your debit card; on desktop, hover your mouse over the image of your card. Then click the green “Set up card” button and follow the instructions to register your debit card.

Step 3

Select the “Freeze/Unfreeze” Card option to freeze your debit card (which will decline all transactions) or unfreeze (which will enable transactions).

How to update your PIN

To change your PIN once your debit card is registered, follow these steps:

Step 1

Log in to Digital Banking. Under the My Accounts menu, click “Manage Debit Card.”

Step 2

On mobile, swipe right or left to locate your debit card and tap it; on desktop, click on the image of your card.

Step 3

Select “Update PIN.”

Step 4

Enter your new PIN and the expiration date of your card and click or tap “Save.”

How to turn on travel notices

To prevent potential card interruptions while traveling, follow these steps:

Step 1

Log in to Digital Banking. Under the My Accounts menu, click “Manage Debit Card.”

Step 2

On mobile, swipe right or left to locate your debit card and tap it. On desktop, click on the image of your card.

Step 3

Select “Travel Notices.” On mobile, you must then select “Add a Travel Notice.”

Step 4

Enter your travel Start Date, End Date, Destination, and State. You may enter multiple travel notices on each card.

Step 5

Select any additional cards the travel notice should be applied to and click or tap “Save.”

Please note: once an international travel notice is provided, it may take up to 1.5 hours before the card is available for use in that country.

Debit Card Management is a feature available in Digital Banking and the Connexus App that’s designed to help you protect your debit card with a variety of security tools.

Currently, you can improve the security of your debit card in the following four ways:

  1. Sign up to receive real-time alerts for both declined transactions and transactions over a specified dollar amount of your choice.
  2. Freeze your card so that it automatically declines transactions in cases of loss, theft, or fraud, and then unfreeze it to resume normal use.
  3. Enable travel notices to prevent potential interruptions while traveling.
  4. Update your PIN as needed to keep your card safe and secure.
